2. TO ENTER.  The #TakeOff Dunk/Trick Shot Video Contest (“Contest”) runs between 6:00 p.m. Central Time (“CT”) on November 12, 2013 and 11:59 a.m. CT on March 20, 2014 (“Promotional Period”).  All entries must be received by 11:59 a.m. CT on March 20, 2014.  The Promotional Period will be divided into four (4) entry periods (each an “Entry Period”) as set forth in more detail below:

You must be a registered user of Twitter (www.twitter.com) and have the Vine application (www.vine.co) on your mobile device to enter this Contest.  If you are not a registered user of Twitter, simply visit https://twitter.com/signup to register for free. If you do not have the Vine application, visit www.vine.co to download it for free.  If you do not wish to use the Vine application, you may create a video via YouTube.  During an Entry Period, follow Sponsor’s @AmericanAir on Twitter.com at https://twitter.com/AmericanAir (the “Website”).  Then create and share an original Vine or YouTube video of up to twenty (20) seconds in length showing your best dunk or trick shot and submit the via Twitter to receive one (1) entry (“Entry”) into the corresponding Entry Period.  The Entry must include an original, relevant Vine or YouTube video, must be no longer than 20 seconds in length, must comply with the file/size requirements set forth by Vine or YouTube, and must comply with the Entry Guidelines (as set forth below) and the Twitter.com Terms of Service.  No purchase of American Airlines Inc. (“American Airlines” or “Sponsor”) products or services are necessary to enter or win.  Entry must include the hashtag #TakeOff to be valid.  Data rates may apply. Limit one (1) Entry per Twitter account/person/email address. Sponsor’s decisions will be final and binding in all respects.


Entries must comply with any applicable submission requirements located at the Website and all legal requirements set forth in these Official Rules. Entries will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the Twitter account from which the Entry is submitted at the time of entry. Multiple participants may not share the same Twitter account. A potential winner may be requested to provide Sponsor with proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the Twitter account associated with the winning Entry and/or an eligible entrant. Participants may not register/enter with multiple email addresses/Twitter accounts nor may entrants use any other device or artifice to register/enter under multiple identities. Any participant who attempts to enter with multiple email addresses or accounts under multiple identities will be disqualified and forfeits any prize won, in Sponsor's discretion. In the event of a conflict between these Official Rules and Twitter Terms of Use, the Promotion Official Rules shall govern.

3. ENTRY GUIDELINES.  Entries must contain the #TakeOff hashtag to be valid. Entries must be original; may not have won previous awards; may not have been previously published; may not be obscene or indecent; cannot be sexually explicit or suggestive, profane or pornographic, violent or derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group; cannot promote alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing), any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous, or any political agenda or message; cannot be offensive, endorse any form of hate or hate group; cannot defame, misrepresent or contain disparaging remarks about Sponsor or its products or services, or other people, products or companies; cannot communicate messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or goodwill to which Sponsor wishes to associate; may not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm or entity; may not in any other way violate any applicable federal, state or local laws or regulations or the Terms of Service on the Website; may not contain any reference to any third party trademarks, names or third party logos or any copyrighted components; and cannot contain any personal identification, such as license plate numbers, personal names, email addresses or street addresses. Entries not in compliance with the Entry Guidelines may be disqualified.

BY SUBMITTING AN ENTRY, ENTRANT ACKNOWLEDGES THAT HIS/HER ENTRY MAY BE POSTED ACROSS ANY OR ALL OF SPONSOR’S DIGITAL AND SOCIAL ASSETS, AT SPONSOR’S DISCRETION. Submission of an Entry grants Sponsor and its agents the right to publish, use, and/or publicly perform such Entry in any way, in any and all media, including for use in advertising and marketing, without limitation, and without consideration to the entrant.

ENTRIES POSTED TO THE WEBSITE ARE NOT EDITED BY SPONSOR AND ARE THE VIEWS/OPINIONS OF THE INDIVIDUAL ENTRANT AND DO NOT REFLECT THE VIEWS OF SPONSOR IN ANY MANNER. Any waiver of any obligation hereunder by Sponsor does not constitute a general waiver of any obligation to entrants. By submitting an Entry, you agree that your Entry is gratuitous and made without restriction, and will not place Sponsor under any obligation, that Sponsor is free to disclose or otherwise disclose the ideas contained in the Entry on a non-confidential basis to anyone or otherwise use the ideas without any additional compensation to you. You acknowledge that, by acceptance of your Entry, Sponsor does not waive any rights to use similar or related ideas previously known to Sponsor, or developed by its employees, or obtained from sources other than you.

4. JUDGING.  As valid entries are received, a qualified panel of judges will judge all valid Entries based upon the following equally weighed criteria: (a) creativity and originality, (b) potential for virality, (c) best use of video platform, (d) passion of entrant, and (e) whether or not the basket is made.  The five (5) Entries receiving the highest score in each Entry Period will be deemed the potential winners. In the event of a tie, tie breaker will be based upon the highest score in the first judging criteria, continuing thereafter to each judging criteria in order, as needed, to break the tie.  Non-winning entries will not roll into subsequent Entry Periods.

5. ELIGIBILITY.  Contest open to individuals legally residing in the fifty (50) United States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico who are at least 18 years of age (19 in Alabama and Nebraska) or older at the time of entry.  Employees and agents of Sponsor and its parent and affiliates, agencies, distributors, wholesalers and retailers, and members of such employees’ and agents’ immediate families and individuals living in the same household with such employees, are not eligible to enter or win the Contest.  Void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law.

6. PRIZE DETAILS AND RELATED TERMSAMERICAN AIRLINES AADVANTAGE® MILES (20 total; 5 per Entry Period):  Each winner will each receive 2,500 American Airlines AAdvantage® miles which may be used for air transportation on American Airlines or its “Airline Associates” (American Eagle or the American Connection® carrier), oneworld® airlines or select AAdvantage® participating airlines, car rentals, hotel stays and other awards available at AA.com/redeem, the (“Prize”).  (Approximate retail value (“ARV”): $49.75 each.  Total ARV of all Prizes:  $995.).  Winners’ videos may also appear on the scoreboard at a Dallas Mavericks home game, in Sponsor’s sole discretion.  Sponsor is under no obligation to use any videos.  Winners are responsible for the full cost of transportation to and from their departure and arrival city. Winners are responsible for any and all applicable fees, service charges, surcharges or passenger facility charges and all insurance costs, federal, state, local and foreign taxes, if any, gratuities, meals, incidentals and any other unspecified expenses associated with acceptance or use of the Prize.  AAdvantage® flight awards are subject to, and the passenger is responsible for, the September 11th Security Fee of up to $10 per round-trip, applicable departure taxes, federal inspection fees, passenger facility charges of up to $18.00, depending on itinerary, and any other taxes and fees imposed by a government entity (U.S. or foreign) of up to $240 based on destination; total may vary slightly based upon currency exchange rate at time of purchase, as well as any fees or surcharges (including fuel surcharges) imposed by the carrier. Travel is subject to availability and certain other restrictions, which are subject to change in the sole discretion of Sponsor.  Flight schedules subject to change without notice.  If AAdvantage® miles are provided to the Winner in the form of a certificate, AAdvantage® miles will be sent to the Winner in the form of a Certificate.  Certificate is not redeemable for cash.  Certificate may not be transferred, purchased, sold or bartered. Only original Certificates will be honored.  Certificate is void if reproduced, altered, counterfeited, obtained or used improperly.  Lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed Certificates will not be replaced by American Airlines.  Determination of income tax liability on mileage Certificates and AAdvantage® travel awards is the responsibility of the holder.  The holder of the Certificate has only the limited right to surrender same to American Airlines in accordance with rules and conditions stated herein for crediting of mileage by American Airlines and subject to all AAdvantage® Terms and Conditions.  Certificate must be deposited online at www.depositAAmiles.com to the AAdvantage® account of each Winner, who must provide a valid AAdvantage® membership account number in order to receive the mileage credit.  Winners who are not AAdvantage® members may join at no cost online at www.aa.com or by calling the AAdvantage® membership desk at 1-800-882-8880. By accepting a prize, each winner agrees that his/her Entry will be deemed a Work Made For Hire under the Copyright laws of the United States, but if it cannot be so deemed, then the winner irrevocably assigns and transfers to Sponsor all of his/her right, title and interest in and to his/her Entry, including all but not limited to all copyright and trademark rights which he or she may have, in the United States and worldwide, therein, for consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged.  Winner hereby waives in favor of Sponsor, all rights of “Droit Moral” or “Moral Rights of Authors” or any similar rights or principles of law that winner may now or later have to their Entry.  Sponsor reserves the right to alter, change or modify the winning Entry (including the Vine video), in its sole discretion.  Upon request of Sponsor, winner shall execute and deliver such additional instrument of assignment, as may be solely deemed by Sponsor, reasonably necessary to establish the ownership of record of the right, title and interest in and to the Entry and of the copyrights transferred and “Moral Rights of Authors” waived under these Official Rules.  Should Sponsor fail to request the said assignment as stated, that shall not be deemed a waiver of Sponsor’s rights and Sponsor may at a later time request the assignment.

7. AWARDING OF PRIZES.  The Sponsor’s decisions will be final in all matters relating to this Contest.  Potential Winners will be notified by Direct Message (DM) to the Twitter handle provided upon entry, and will be required to provide potential winner’s email address.  E-mail address must be provided within seventy-two (72) hours of notification. Sponsor or will then contact potential winner via e-mail to verify identify and contact information.  Potential Winners may be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility (which affirms that he/she has complied with these rules) as well as a liability release, and where legal, a publicity release, each of which, if issued, must be completed, signed and returned within seven (7) days from date of issuance, or the Prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate Winner. If any Prize, Prize notification or attempted notification is returned as undeliverable, or the winner is not following @AmericanAir prohibiting a Direct Message (DM), the Prize may be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate Winner.  It is the responsibility of the potential winners to ensure their Twitter account information, phone, email, and all contact information in their AAdvantage® profile is correct and up to date. Except where prohibited, acceptance of a Prize constitutes Winner’s consent to use of his/her name and/or photograph without further compensation for advertising, promotional and publicity purposes by Sponsor.  By accepting Prize, Winners acknowledge compliance with these official rules.  If a potential Winner is considered a minor in his/her jurisdiction of residence, the foregoing documents must be signed by his/her parent or legal guardian and such Prize will be delivered to minor’s parent/legal guardian and awarded in the name of minor’s parent/legal guardian.   Prize is provided “as is” and without any warranty of any kind.  Prize is non-transferable.  No cash redemption or Prize substitution allowed by Winners.  Sponsor reserves the right to substitute Prize of equal or greater value if advertised Prize becomes unavailable.  Limit one Prize per household/family.

8. USE OF DATA.  Sponsor will be collecting personal data about entrants online, in accordance with its privacy policy.  Please review the Sponsor's privacy policy at www.aa.com/privacy.  By participating in the Contest, entrants hereby agree to Sponsor's collection and usage of their personal information and acknowledge that they have read and accepted Sponsor's privacy policy.

9. TAXES.  Any valuation of the Prizes stated above is based on available information provided to the Sponsor. The value of the Prizes will be taxable to Winners as income. All federal, state and local taxes and any other costs and expenses associated with the acceptance and/or use of Prizes not specifically provided for in these official rules are solely the Winner’s responsibility.  Winner(s is/are) solely responsible for reporting and paying any and all applicable taxes.  Winners must provide the Sponsor with valid identification and a signed Form W-9 with a valid taxpayer identification number or social security number before any Prize will be awarded.  Any residents of the 50 United States that win $600 or more in Prizes will have income reported to them on IRS Form 1099, as required under IRS rules and a copy of said form will be sent to the IRS.  Puerto Rico residents that win $500 or more in Prizes will receive a Form 480.6A, with a duplicate sent to the Puerto Rico tax authorities. You must contact your own tax advisor for any questions concerning taxes. 

10. OTHER CONDITIONS.  To the extent applicable to any registrant or Prize Winner(s) domiciled in Puerto Rico, these rules will be interpreted to comply with the laws of Puerto Rico.  All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.  Sponsor reserves the right, at its/their sole discretion, to modify or suspend this Contest or any portion hereof, or to disqualify any individual implicated in any of the following actions, if for any reason: (a) infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, actions by entrants, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which, in Sponsor’s sole opinion, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, (b) the Contest or any website associated therewith (or any portion thereof) becomes corrupted or does not allow the proper processing of entries per these rules, or (c) the Contest is otherwise not capable of running as planned by Sponsor.  In the event of modification or suspension, Sponsor shall award the Prizes to Winners to be selected in random drawings from among the remaining uncorrupted eligible entries.  By entering, entrants agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor and its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, divisions, advertising and promotional agencies, wholesalers and retailers, and each of the foregoing entities’ employees, officers, directors, shareholders and agents (collectively the “Released Parties”), from and against any and all claims, actions and/or liability for any injuries or death, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with participation in and/or entry into the Contest or acceptance or use of any Prize or participation in any Contest-related travel or other activity and for any claims based on publicity rights, defamation, invasion of privacy and merchandise delivery.  The Released Parties are not responsible or liable for any incorrect or inaccurate entry information, and assume no responsibility for (i) any error, omission, interruption, defect or delay in operation or transmission at any website, (ii) failure of any entry to be received by Sponsor due to technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, (iii) communications line, hardware and/or software failures, (iv) damage to any computer (software or hardware) resulting from participation in the Contest, (v) theft or destruction of, tampering with, unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries and/or entry information, or (vi) entries which are late, lost, stolen, damaged, illegible, unintelligible and/or postage due (or any combination thereof).  The use of third-party software or website or automated entry systems to participate is prohibited, and Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify entries made in such fashion.  By entering, entrants agree to comply with these rules.  Any entrant who attempts to tamper with this Contest in any way shall be disqualified.  In the event of dispute as to who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the Authorized Account Holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry.  “Authorized Account Holder” is defined as the natural person assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the email address in question.  Additional restrictions may apply.

11. DISPUTES. Entrant agrees that: (i) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or any Prizes awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas or the appropriate Texas State Court located in Fort Worth, Texas; (ii) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering the Contest but in no event attorneys' fees; and (iii) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.  SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.  All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these official rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Texas, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of Texas or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Texas.

12. WINNERS' LIST.  The names of the Winners will be posted on the AA.com® website at www.aa.com/promowinners on or about April 14, 2014.
