Up for a New Fall Shopping Experience? Take an American Airlines Flight From New York to Minneapolis-St. Paul - The Mall of America is Just 11 Minutes From the Airport

New Yorkers who are seeking a different shopping experience this Fall may want to consider taking the new American Airlines flight from LaGuardia Airport to Minneapolis-St. Paul -- where they can board a local Metro Transit train for an 11-minute ride to the world-famous Mall of America.

With its inaugural flight today, American is offering three daily round-trip flights to Minneapolis-St. Paul, conveniently timed for early morning, midday and early evening departures. The airline will use Boeing MD80 aircraft on the route configured with 16 First-Class seats and 124 seats in the Main Cabin.

"Many of our customers asked for convenient nonstop service between New York and Minneapolis/St. Paul, so we are delighted to add it to our schedule," said Chuck Imhof, American's Vice President Passenger Sales - Greater New York. "Business travelers and shoppers will appreciate that they can fly to Minneapolis/St. Paul or New York, put in a full day of work or shopping, and return home that evening."

American also begins expanded flights today between JFK and Chicago O'Hare Airport. The airline starts flying the route twice daily using 140-seat MD80 aircraft, while American Eagle continues to fly JFK-Chicago with one daily flight. The net effect will be an additional flight, for a total of three flights daily -- two operated with MD80s -- creating 222 additional seats each way, in the JFK-Chicago market.

American offers more flights from New York to O'Hare Airport than any other airline. American and American Eagle now operate 38 daily New York flights to O'Hare: 19 from LaGuardia, 10 from White Plains/Westchester County, six from Newark, and three American and American Eagle flights from JFK.

This November, American will begin nonstop service to St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as St. Lucia.
