Memphians, Finish Your Last Minute Holiday Shopping in New York City

American Eagle Airlines Adds New Nonstop Service to New York City

American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, launched nonstop service today from Memphis, Tenn., to New York's LaGuardia Airport. This new service arrives just in time for Memphians to finish their last minute holiday shopping in The Big Apple.

American Eagle operates the new route twice daily with its 37-seat Embraer ERJ-135 jets. Together, American and American Eagle have 15 daily flights from Memphis to five nonstop destinations.

Memphis, of course, is the Home of the Blues and the Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll, as well as home to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This year, American Airlines and artist Charles Fazzino are giving art lovers a chance to own the internationally renowned 3-D pop artist's latest creation for the benefit of St. Jude.

Through midnight this Friday, Dec. 14, St. Jude is auctioning off a detailed 4' x 4'4" mural based on Fazzino's creation titled, A Legacy of Service to New York. The artwork, a colorful view of Manhattan Island landmarks looking from the Battery up to the Bronx, celebrates American Airlines 80 years of service to the Greater New York community. American commissioned the piece for auction to benefit St. Jude as part of its annual Thanks and Giving campaign.

"St. Jude does extraordinary work that benefits children throughout the world who need their help," said Chuck Imhof, Managing Director - Passenger Sales, New York Division. "It's great that we can once again show our support through the Thanks and Giving campaign and present this marvelous New York mural for auction."
