After more than two years as American Airlines General Auditor and one year as President of American Airlines Federal Credit Union (AA Credit Union), Angela K. Owens assumes the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of AA Credit Union. Owens succeeds John M. Tippets, who retired June 30.
Owens, a Certified Public Accountant, holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Oklahoma State University. In 1992, she began her career with American Airlines in its Tulsa, Okla., office.
Owens served as the Credit Union's Senior Vice President - Community Relations and Financial Services from 2002 to 2005. She was also responsible for the Credit Union's Business Development, Credit Education, and Member Special Assistance departments. She also previously held leadership positions within AMR Corp., including Managing Director - Corporate Accounting, and Managing Director - Investor Relations for SABRE. Prior to AMR, Owens was an audit manager with Ernst & Young.
