Online Maps Make it Easy to See Where to Earn AAdvantage Miles
American Airlines today announced the launch of the AAdvantage MileFinder(SM) map at http://www.aa.com/milefinder. This new mapping application, powered by Google Maps™ mapping service, will allow AAdvantage® members to quickly and easily identify opportunities to earn miles in 11 featured cities across the United States. This creates a one-stop resource that displays category icons representing AAdvantage participants such as hotels, dining venues and financial services.
AAdvantage members who log on to http://www.aa.com/milefinder will be able to select a map for any of the featured cities and scan icons or enter in an address to reveal more details about AAdvantage participants in that city, including the AAdvantage mileage offer, physical location, contact details and driving directions. Featured cities include Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, St. Louis and Washington.
"American is excited to add another feature to our interactive media channels. We are always looking for new avenues to engage travelers in ways that are personal and relevant to them," said Kurt Stache, President - AAdvantage Marketing Programs. "AAdvantage MileFinder is need- and location-specific, so it is an ideal tool for AAdvantage members to see how easy it is to earn miles in their neighborhood or on their next trip."
AAdvantage members also will be able to interact on the site through a community forum that allows members to rate, post and review comments for any of the featured participants on the map.
The AAdvantage Program was the first and is the world's largest frequent flyer program. Established in 1981, the program now has more than 56 million members. Members can earn miles at more than 1,000 participating companies, which include more than 35 hotel chains representing more than 75 brands, more than 20 airlines, eight car-rental companies, 18 financial companies, and over 200 brand name retailers. In addition, members can earn miles when making purchases with one of more than 97 affinity card products in over 41 countries. In 2006, members redeemed more than 142 billion miles to claim in excess of 4 million awards for flights, upgrades and car rentals.
