American Airlines Makes Traveling Twice as Nice by Offering Double Elite Qualifying Miles Systemwide

Offer Valid Through Jan. 31, 2012

FORT WORTH, Texas, Dec. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines is giving AAdvantage® members the opportunity to earn double elite qualifying miles for travel on all flights operated by American, American Eagle or AmericanConnection between today and Jan. 31, 2012. Whether customers need a boost to requalify for their current elite status level or simply want a good start for the new year, this offer enables customers to reach elite status faster than usual.

"I thought to myself, after the latest technological gizmo and peace on earth, what would our AAdvantage members want most during this holiday season," said Maya Leibman, American's outgoing President – AAdvantage Loyalty Program and incoming Chief Information Officer. "Double elite qualifying miles are our way of saying, 'you asked and we listened.'"

Customers can qualify for elite status in the AAdvantage program by earning 25,000 elite qualifying miles for AAdvantage Gold® status; 50,000 miles for AAdvantage Platinum® status; and 100,000 miles for AAdvantage Executive Platinum® status in a calendar year. AAdvantage promotion is valid for all travel on purchased, published fare tickets on American Airlines, American Eagle or the AmericanConnection carrier marketed and operated flights from Dec. 13, 2011, through Jan. 31, 2012. This offer does not require travel to be booked during a specific time frame; travel booked prior to the start date of this promotion is eligible. Offer applies to all eligible segments flown, regardless of the type of trip, i.e. one-way, round-trip, circle trip or trips including open jaws. Bonus elite qualifying miles earned in conjunction with flight activity during 2011 will count toward your 2012 membership year; bonus elite qualifying miles earned in conjunction with flight activity during 2012 will count toward your 2013 membership year. This offer does not increase the member's prize eligible mileage balance, elite qualifying points or segments. Double elite-qualifying miles will be calculated at 100% of the base miles earned. Double elite qualifying miles will be posted to the account of the traveling AAdvantage member within 6-8 weeks after qualifying activity posts to your account.
