American Airlines Federal Credit Union Names Angela K. Owens President
In a move that brings added strength and experience to its leadership team, and provides for succession for the chief executive officer position, American Airlines Federal Credit Union today announced the appointment of Angela K. Owens as President.
Owens returns to AA Credit Union from American Airlines, where she currently is the airline's General Auditor. While previously with the AA Credit Union, Owens served as Senior Vice President -- Community Relations and Financial Services. In this role, Owens led the credit union's Financial Services group, which employs licensed representatives to provide financial planning and advising services to members. She was also responsible for the credit union's business development, credit counseling, and member special assistance efforts.
"We are excited to welcome Angie back to the Credit Union and the tremendous experience she brings to our members," said Douglas Herring, AA Credit Union chairman. "Angie's valuable background in both the airline and credit union industries will help lead the credit union to new levels of growth and service in the future."
Owens previously held leadership positions within the AMR Corporation family, including Managing Director -- Corporate Accounting for American Airlines and Managing Director -- Investor Relations for Sabre. Prior to AMR, Owens was an Audit Manager with Ernst & Young. Owens, a Certified Public Accountant, holds a master of business administration degree from The University of Texas at Arlington and a bachelor of science degree from Oklahoma State University.
AA Credit Union's current President and Chief Executive Officer, John Tippets, will retain the title of Chief Executive Officer. Upon Owens joining the credit union late this summer, they will work closely together to ensure a smooth and successful transition of leadership upon Tippets' future retirement.
