American Airlines Federal Credit Union Announces Second Grand Prize Winner of Its 2007 Road to Success Sweepstakes

The second Grand Prize Winner of the 2007 Road to Success Sweepstakes, an online promotion offering members the opportunity to win a new vehicle by opening one or multiple new accounts or products was announced by American Airlines Federal Credit Union (AA Credit Union) today. The sweepstakes began July 1 and continues through Nov. 30, with more winners to come.

Barbara Ramallo of Hialeah, Fla., has only been in the United States for two years. She was shocked to hear the news that she had won a 2007 Ford Edge. Ramallo was randomly selected from more than 53,000 sweepstakes entries.

A current employee of Sky Chefs in Miami, Ramallo, a Cuban native, opened her first share account in the AA Credit Union Blue Lagoon Branch on June 25. "I met Ms. Ramallo in August to assist her with a personal loan needed to process the paperwork needed to become a United States citizen," said Julio Berrios, Member Service Representative, AA Credit Union. With that transaction, Ramallo became automatically entered into the sweepstakes.

Eli Vazquez, AA Credit Union Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, phoned Ramallo and spoke to her in her native language, Spanish, to pass along all the exciting details. Ramallo, responded with surprise and appreciation, "Gracias, gracias!" Vasquez later learned that Ramallo has a brother in Miami, and a father back in Cuba.

"Ms. Ramallo's story is so heartwarming and goes to the root of what our organization stands for. We are thrilled for this family," said John Tippets, President - AA Credit Union. "The goal of this sweepstakes has been to drive awareness of the great benefits of Credit Union membership -- our loan rates, dividends and other products which meet members' financial needs."

"The good news for those who have not yet won is that their names will automatically roll over to our next three drawings," Tippets added.
