American Airlines will celebrate the achievements of African Americans in entertainment this year as the "Official Airline" of the 39th NAACP Image Awards, which the show will air live on FOX today, Feb. 14. Check your local listing for times.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Awards recognizes individuals in television, music, literature and motion pictures who have contributed to the advancement of diversity in arts. This year's awards show theme is "Stand Up and Be Counted."
"For many years, American Airlines has been proud to be the 'Official Airline' of the NAACP Image Awards," said Roger Frizzell, Vice President -- Corporate Communications and Advertising. "We are honored to help recognize legendary artists for their contributions to the world of entertainment."
During the broadcast, legendary artist Stevie Wonder will be inducted into the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame, and Aretha Franklin will receive the prestigious Vanguard Award, which honors those whose groundbreaking work increases the understanding and awareness of social and racial issues.
