American Airlines Celebrates 25 Years of Service to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
American Airlines, a founding member of the oneworld® Alliance, today celebrates 25 years of service at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL). American currently operates 17 departures a day at FLL to eight nonstop destinations, ensuring convenient connections throughout American's worldwide network.
"We are extremely proud of our ongoing international growth and service at Fort Lauderdale," said Keith Harrell, American's Regional Sales Manager for Florida. "This is a significant and exciting milestone for American Airlines. In the past year alone, our international service from Fort Lauderdale has grown significantly. We added service between Fort Lauderdale and San Jose, Costa Rica, in December, and Fort Lauderdale and Kingston, Jamaica, at the beginning of June. We look forward to continuing to enhance our operations at Fort Lauderdale."
American launched service between the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport and its Dallas/Fort Worth International hub (DFW) 25 years ago today. At the time, Fort Lauderdale was the fourth major American Airlines destination added in Florida, preceded by daily nonstop service between DFW and Miami, Orlando and Tampa.
American and American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, currently provide service from Fort Lauderdale to DFW; Chicago O'Hare; Los Angeles; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Port-au-Prince, Haiti; Nassau, Bahamas; San Jose, Costa Rica; and Kingston, Jamaica.
