American Airlines and Sponsors Golf for LA's Children
FORT WORTH, Texas, Sept. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, American Airlines demonstrates once again it is a global airline with a strong focus on the communities it serves. In this case through its 29th annual Flagship Charities Golf Classic and Awards Banquet, which is being held at the Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles. To date, the event has raised $4.1 million for four local charities: Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House®, Eisner Pediatric & Family Medical Center, Volunteer League of the San Fernando Valley and the Something mAAgic® Foundation.
Chaired by Cathy Berg, American's Regional Vice President Western Division, and Debbie Pattillo, American's Manager Diversity Markets, donations have tripled since the event's inception, making it one of the largest-grossing charity golf tournaments in Los Angeles. The focus on children and their families stems from American's emphasis on corporate responsibility. One of its primary areas of concentration is the American Airlines Kids in Need(SM) program.
