American Airlines 13th Annual Celebrity Golf and Tennis Weekend Will Raise Funds to Fight Breast Cancer

Fundraiser to Benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure; $6.3 Million Raised to Date

Movie and television personalities, professional athletes and other celebrities are teaming up with American Airlines this weekend to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure at the 13th Annual American Airlines Celebrity Golf and Tennis Weekend, Oct. 4-7 at the Four Seasons Resort Aviara and the Del Mar Country Club in Carlsbad, Calif.

American Airlines is the title sponsor of the four-day event. Presenting sponsors are Citi and MasterCard Worldwide.

The weekend will include various competitive and non-competitive activities at Aviara Golf Club, Delmar Country Club, and the Aviara Tennis Center. Held every October during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event's proceeds support Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The largest private funder of research in the U.S. solely dedicated to breast cancer, Komen's promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all, and energizing science to find the cures.

Among the celebrities scheduled to participate in this year's American Airlines Celebrity Golf and Tennis Weekend are actors and TV personalities Carlos Bernard, Kimberlin Brown, Chris Harrison, Chris Judd, Jason Priestley, Wendie Malick and Rene Syler; baseball legends Rollie Fingers, Fred Lynn, Jim Lonborg, Brooks Robinson and Jim Palmer; tennis stars Rod Laver and Vijay Amritraj; hockey greats Rod Gilbert, Stan Mikita and Phil Esposito; football standouts Matt Bahr, Tom Mack and Gale Sayers; basketball legends Bill Russell, Bob Cousy, John Havlicek and Sam Jones; ladies' professional golfers Jane Blalock and Sally Little; and many others.
