A Snapshot of American in Los Angeles
 
American Airlines has served California for more than 75 years and has a rich historical connection to the state. On Jan. 25, 1959, American became the first airline to offer transcontinental commercial jet service with Boeing 707 flights between Los Angeles and New York’s Idlewild Airport. Following in the steps of the rich history, Los Angeles is today one of the airline’s cornerstone cities, along with New York, Chicago, Miami and Dallas-Fort Worth. American continues to grow in California, with American and American Eagle serving cities throughout the United States, as well as destinations in the Pacific, Europe, Canada, Mexico and Central America.


Operations
  • American Airlines has served Los Angeles since 1930.

  • American and American Eagle flights operate from Terminal 4 at LAX.

  • At LAX, American and American Eagle offer over 150 daily flights with service to destinations including:

  • Together, American and American Eagle serve a total of nearly 40 destinations from Los Angeles.

  • In 2012, American and American Eagle carried more than 11 million passengers through Los Angeles.

  • Currently, American and American Eagle service represents 19% of all traffic at LAX.

  • American supports 4,400 jobs in the Los Angeles community and 89,000 jobs in the state of California. The airline has an estimated $9 billion annual impact to the California economy.
