Within your pocket lies the ability to make a difference in children’s lives. UNICEF is the world’s leading organization for children, working in more than 190 countries and territories to help all children realize their full potential. Your unused currency can help support UNICEF’s efforts to provide children with immunizations, education, medicine, emergency relief and clean water; and to protect children from violence and exploitation. Through UNICEF's Change for Good program on American Airlines, customers are taking action to help reduce the number of preventable childhood deaths to zero. UNICEF has saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization in the world. Today, thanks to generous donations, more than 16,000 additional lives are saved each day than was possible in 1990.
Since 1994, American has been the participating U.S. airline in UNICEF’s global Change for Good program. For more than 20 years, American flight attendants and Admirals Club employees known as Champions for Children have collected more than $10 million in unused currency and donations from customers to support UNICEF programs for children worldwide. Together with participating one
world® alliance airlines and other airlines, more than $130 million has been raised through UNICEF’s global Change for Good program since the program began in 1987.
Getting involved is simple, and no donation is too small. On your next international flight with American, simply ask your flight attendant if a Champion for Children employee volunteer is on board or mention making a donation to support UNICEF. Champions for Children volunteer to collect donations during selected international flights with a clearly marked UNICEF collection pouch. The donation of your unused currency will go a long way toward strengthening UNICEF's mission to make a lasting difference in the lives of children around the world.
Members or visitors at American Airlines Admirals Club lounges and Flagship Lounge locations worldwide (except Latin America) can also make donations via specially marked UNICEF Change for Good donation boxes.
