UNICEF’s Change for Good on American Airlines program collects change, both foreign and domestic, to support organizations that help in the well being of children around the world. American flight attendant volunteers, or Champions for Children, take up donations on international flights.
Each year, Champions select a UNICEF project that a portion of the donations will go to support. And each year, four Champions are selected to make a field visit to that project. In 2015, funds supported a project in Haiti that supplies maternal and neonatal services to children living there.
Flight attendants Tedd Froelich, LAX; Christian Yactayo Chang, LIM; Sabrina Mayfield, MIA; and Eileen Yi Ling Yu, DFW participated in a UNICEF field visit to Haiti where they saw this program first-hand and witnessed Change for Good collections in action.
“It was amazing to see UNICEF volunteers working together to educate, vaccinate and nourish children and their mothers,” said Chang. “Some women walked for two days to reach the clinic. These women will return to their villages and communities on the outskirts to educate and uplift the women in her area to ensure the change coming to Haiti doesn’t stop with her.
