Kids in Need program makes every mile count

The American Airlines Kids in NeedSM program provides support for children needing medical assistance and their families. AAdvantage® members play an important role in helping American support some of the world’s foremost organizations dedicated to caring for children. By donating unused miles through American’s Miles for Kids in Need® Opens external site in a new window program, AAdvantage members are providing crucial assistance to children who desperately need care. 

In addition to the millions of miles American donates annually, in 2015 AAdvantage members donated 170 million of their miles. These miles help hundreds of children’s organizations like the ones listed below. The miles have also been used to provide air transportation to 425 critically ill children in need of medical treatment along with their parents/guardians.

Requests for transportation
Medical institutions, doctors or social workers at certified medical facilities, NGOs or other nonprofit charitable organizations may request transportation for a critically ill child needing medical treatment in the United States.

Our long-standing partner, Mercy Medical Angels, now coordinates the medical transport for our American Airlines Kids in Need program. Requests for transport should be sent to miles.kids@mercymedical.org or by fax to 757-464-1284.
