ACV uses funds contributed through American Airlines employees’ Fuel Smart program — which identifies and implements procedures that safely reduce the company’s fuel consumption — to provide medical air transportation for wounded warriors and their families during rehabilitation and recovery from injuries sustained while defending our freedom.
Because the military cannot always provide transportation resources to wounded warriors seeking specialized evaluation, diagnosis or treatment, the service ACV fills a huge need. ACV ensures that veterans and their families have access to care and resources they otherwise may not be able to receive.
In the past several years, numerous programs to help wounded veterans have been created to provide counseling and rehabilitative and restorative care. American and ACV provide transportation for veterans to many of these programs that are located throughout the United States. This service is extended to older veterans and their dependents needing travel for distant, specialized medical care as well.
Since American’s partnership with ACV began in 2010, nearly 5,000 flights have been provided on American and American Eagle airlines from the nearly $4 million contributed via Fuel Smart.
ACV provides a critical link that connects veterans of all ages to life-saving and life-changing programs, and American is committed to supporting and advancing those programs and providing critical connections that serve our nation’s military and veterans. We hope you’ll join us.
