Sasquatch! Music Festival

In June of 1967, California’s Monterey County Fairgrounds served as the perfect backdrop for three days of music, fun, and a gathering of 200,000 traveling fans. The Monterey International Pop Music Festival, featuring performances by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Janis Joplin, The Who, and Jefferson Airplane, was the first widely promoted rock music festival, and it paved the way for many more to come. This year’s festival season promises to be even bigger and better than years past, as several big-name events celebrate some impressive milestones. Here’s whom we’re wishing a happy anniversary to.

EVENT: Sasquatch! Music Festival
ANNIVERSARY: 10 Years
LOCATION: George, Washington
DATES: May 27 to 30
LINEUP: Wilco, The Decemberists, Foo Fighters, Modest Mouse, and Guided by Voices
ABOUT: Started in 2002, the festival has grown from a one-day event to a four-day event featuring artists from all genres including hip-hop, indie, and rock, along with comedians (Zach Galifianakis appeared in 2009). Performances take place at the gorgeous Gorge Amphitheatre on four stages appropriately named Sasquatch, Bigfoot, Yeti, and Banana Shack.
