As you may know, a few weeks ago, American took an important step to secure our future success as an efficient, competitive airline by filing for Chapter 11 reorganization. As difficult as that decision was, this process will ultimately enable us to invest in enhanced products and services that will make your time with us more comfortable and convenient. We will continue to operate as usual, with the excellent customer service you have come to expect from American. Especially during this time of year, I want you to know that you can rely on us for your travel needs.
We believe that this is the beginning of a renewed, energized American. One very tangible example is our transformational fleet plan that will give American the youngest and most efficient fleet in the industry. Recently, we unveiled the latest plans for the Boeing 777-300ER wide-body aircraft. American is pleased and proud to be the first U.S. airline to order this amazing plane and the first to take delivery, which is scheduled for 2012. From fully lie-flat first- and business-class seating, international Wi-Fi capabilities, individual 110V AC power outlets and USB jacks, and an expanded selection of in-flight entertainment available for every customer, our new planes will offer a state-of-the-art travel experience.
That’s just one example of our ongoing initiatives to ensure your satisfaction. I look forward to using this column to share additional news and insights about how we will continue to fulfill our commitment to you.
We thank you for your support and for the opportunity to serve you. Whether you are connecting with friends and family or exploring new corners of the world, have a great trip.
It is our privilege to be your airline of choice this holiday season and throughout the year, and we wish you all the best in 2012.
