When Jay Leno interviews himself, the answers can only be ... laughable.
Jay Leno has been in the media spotlight for more than three decades, and it all began in 1973, when he performed in comedy clubs in Boston. As he rose through the comedy ranks, from stand-up comedian to host of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Leno became a pro (a hilarious pro, obviously) at both interviewing and being interviewed. Name a celebrity and chances are that Leno has talked to him or her on-set at NBC’s studios in Burbank, California. Of course, Leno has been on the other side of the microphone, too, having been profiled in such magazines as GQ, Vanity Fair, and Rolling Stone.
Here at American Way, we wanted it both ways. So we invited Leno to be our editor for this issue, asking him to interview himself. He happily accepted, further cementing his title as the hardest-working man in Hollywood. (Bonus: He earned a new entry for his résumé.)
