St. Petersburg is the latest city on the ever-growing list of W Hotel locations. The W St. Petersburg opened in April in the heart of the historical district of this Russian city, which is known as the Venice of the North. Located next to St. Isaac’s Cathedral, the swank hotel is within walking distance of a variety of must-see sights, including the Winter Palace, the Hermitage Museum and the Neva River.
Interiors of the 137-room property were created by award-winning architects and designers Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel, who were inspired by both the architecture of the city and the jewel tones of Fabergé eggs — synonymous with Russian culture. Fairly minimal in decor, there are splashes of color and, of course, plenty of gold throughout the hotel. The property also boasts Russia’s first-ever Bliss spa, a Sweat Fitness Center, several restaurants (including MiX, inspired by Alain Ducasse), and a rooftop bar and terrace.
