Dallas’ Ketchup Burger Bar in the city’s trendy Uptown area is taking the concept of a burger and fries to a whole new level. On the burger side, the neighborhood joint serves only the choicest of organic ingredients, all of which are piled a mile high. If beef’s not your thing, no problem — there’s also ahi tuna, chicken, lamb and mushroom-pecan veggie patties on offer. All burgers are served on brioche, challah or molasses-wheat buns that are fresh-baked daily, then topped with one of the restaurant’s house-made ketchups (hence the name), including chipotle, green tomato, spiced and house. As for the fries, forget everything you’ve ever heard, seen or tasted before, because these tasty spuds will spoil you for life. Think we’re kidding? Take a bite of either (or all of) the garlic-and-chive, white-truffle parmesan or buffalo fries, then give us a holler. On the lighter side, Ketchup also offers zucchini and sweet-potato fries. Insider tip: Live music on weekend nights and quaint sidewalk dining make this a fail-safe dinner-with-friends/date spot — as does the Mississippi mud pie dessert.
