On her TNT hit Leverage, Beth Riesgraf, who plays the inscrutable Parker, frequently finds herself rappelling down the sides of tall buildings or running across moving trains in Portland, Ore., where the show has shot for four years. She’s gotten to know the city pretty intimately thanks to all the on-location filming, and, off camera, she enjoys getting to experience it in a more low-key way. What she loves best? “It’s green, the food is amazing, and there’s so much art,” she says. “It’s got a small-town vibe with a real sense of community, but it’s really cosmopolitan.” Here, she shares her favorite spots in and near Rose City.
Beam & Anchor
2710 N. Interstate Ave.; Portland, Ore.
“All of us have become obsessed with this place, a little home-goods store that has art shows and coffee tastings. It’s a great place to settle into one of the upholstered chairs and enjoy a cup of joe.”
6555 NE Hilltop Lane; Dayton, Ore.
“We recently shot at this beautiful vineyard, and the owners were so gracious. Oregon’s known for its pinots, and theirs are just delicious.”
5425 NE 30th Ave.; Portland, Ore.
“It’s Naomi Pomeroy from Top Chef’s place. It only seats 24 people, at communal tables. There’s a lot of meat, perfectly cooked, and you’re chatting with strangers — and it’s so intimate and unusual.”
Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum
500 NE Captain Michael King Smith Way; McMinnville, Ore.
“My son loves going to this place. You learn so much, and they make it super accessible. And it has its own water park!”
