SURVEY PHILIPPE HALSMAN'S LIFE WORK
Get face to face with Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn (pictured above). Or gaze at Woody Allen, Marlon Brando, Ingrid Bergman, or Albert Einstein. See them all at Philippe Halsman: A Retrospective at London’s The National Portrait Gallery through September 2. Halsman set the standard for celebrity portraiture during the ’40s through ’70s, with 101 of his works gracing the cover of Life magazine. A special section of the exhibit is devoted to his famous “jump” pictures, which capture noteworthy people from Richard Nixon to the Duke and Duchess of Windsor in a mid-air pose. 011-44-20-7306-0055, www.npg.org.uk
