It may well be the most awkward name for a cocktail in quite a while, but it’s also one of the most dazzling newcomers, created at Philadelphia’s TRUST [121 S. 13th St.; 215-629-1300] by beverage director Jay Wolmer. Echoing the restaurant’s colored lights embedded in the sidewalk, shimmering in the chandeliers, and glowing throughout the building, Wolmer’s “electronic cocktails” boast brightly colored plastic light cubes. A red light is used in A Pinch of Vision, which when held against your chest makes you look (and, perhaps, feel) a bit like E.T.

A Pinch of Vision
2 oz. Stolichnaya Vanil vodka
1 oz. ginger brandy
1¼5 oz. apple juice
Juice of 1¼2 a lime
Candied orange
Pour vodka, brandy, apple juice, and lime juice into a shaker with ice. Shake until very cold, then strain into a martini glass and garnish with candied orange. Squint at the cocktail, and you just might see the shimmer of a red light.
