FAVORITE NON-GOLF TRAVEL DESTINATION: Sandy Lane, Barbados.
FAVORITE GOLF COURSE: Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland.
INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL TIP: I tend to stick to new time zones with regards to my sleeping pattern. I would try to go to bed at 11 p.m. and get up at 7 a.m. Even if I don’t sleep for all that time, my body will be resting. I also try to stay hydrated when I travel.
FITNESS ROUTINE ON THE ROAD: Before I play, I spend 45 minutes doing exercises, see my physio [physical therapist] for 20 minutes, and then hit an hour of shots to warm up. In the evening, depending on energy level, I do a short weight session in the gym.
WHEN I GET TIRED: I go to the gym for a while, as it will wake me up.
WHEN I’M NOT PLAYING GOLF I LIKE TO: Spend time with my wife, children, and the rest of my family.
I STARTED A CHARITY TO: Provide financial assistance to deserving beneficiaries throughout Ireland and the rest of the world. With a wonderful family, I feel extremely privileged to be in the position I am in. I do appreciate, however, that there are others who are less fortunate. With this in mind, I established the Padraig Harrington Charitable Foundation.
FAVORITE FOODS WHILE TRAVELING: Popcorn in the cinema and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.
EVERY VISITOR TO IRELAND SHOULD SEE:The Book of Kells at Trinity College and the Guinness Storehouse.
DREAM SITE FOR A GOLF COURSE DESIGN: Anywhere it would make a difference to the surrounding area and the local community.
SIMPLE TIP FOR ALL THE AMATEURS I’VE PLAYED WITH: Hold the finish at the end of the swing.
