Zero Motorcycles

Northern California’s Highway 1 boasts all the elements of an unforgettable motorcycle adventure: cliff-top curves, salty sea air, roadside cafés and sweeping Pacific Ocean views. This month, in honor of Earth Day, the Zero to Hero package from San Francisco’s STANFORD COURT hotel puts that open road within reach. Hotel guests simply flash a valid motorcycle license for all-day access to an eco-friendly electric cycle from Zero Motorcycles. The company’s 2014 models travel up to 88 highway miles (or 171 miles in the city) before requiring a charge at any standard outlet. That’s enough juice to view redwoods at Muir Woods National Monument, watch waves at Stinson Beach or sample seafood in Pacifica before cruising back to the hotel. In addition to the motorcycle demo and one-night stay, the Zero to Hero package includes a complimentary pair of aviator sunglasses from Oakland-based Shauns, along with breakfast and snacks for the road. Other environmental initiatives at the Stanford Court, built on the site of California governor (and Stanford University founder) Leland Stanford’s 1876 mansion, include on-site car-sharing and a locally sourced beverage program that eliminates 6,000 pounds of packaging annually by trading bottles for on-tap beer, wine and spirits.
