In a city renowned for its sense of spectacle, the same old glitzy nightclub just won’t do anymore. Hence LIGHT, a new hot spot in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and a first-of-its-kind Las Vegas concept that pairs rhythmic beats from celebrated DJs with the high-flying artistry of Cirque du Soleil. To step into the 38,000-square-foot venue is to plunge into a world of stylized sights and sounds. All the tables ring a dance floor with an elevated DJ booth above it. As the music pulses, mixed by club headliners like Skrillex, Zedd and Baauer, trained Cirque du Soleil performers soar about the space, dropping from the ceiling and defying the laws of physics with their acrobatics. Special effects allow the room to morph, turning it from an underwater setting one night to a jungle landscape the next. What never changes, though, is the electric atmosphere, which often calls for guests to join the show.
