Of all the staples snapped up by fashion plates at J.Crew’s ever-popular The Men’s Shop, none is more coveted than its trim-fitting, wallet-flattering, trend-story-triggering Ludlow suit. In fact, the cut is so popular that J.Crew just opened a store devoted to it, the Ludlow Shop at Hudson, a Tribeca-based haberdashery featuring the brand’s largest selection of Ludlows, Thomas Mason shirting, curated shoes and accessories — with hand monogramming available on shirts, suits and Italian cashmere. As the Shop evolves (and opens new doors), it will also showcase suits in high-end, limited-edition fabrics to meet the needs of more rarefied connoisseurs. “The Ludlow has that magic combination — it’s a beautifully tailored suit that feels modern without feeling fashion-y,” says J.Crew president and creative director Jenna Lyons. “It hasn’t met a man it doesn’t look great on.” Apparently not. 50 Hudson St., New York City www.jcrew.com
