When someone mentions pool party, beach vacation, or a warm-weather getaway, do you head for the water or head into hiding? Here’s a simple step-by-step program that’s designed to simplify your healthy-living lifestyle and prevent you from feeling self-conscious in a swimsuit.

1 Add a healthy meal. That’s right! Instead of starving and dieting, add a meal such as grilled chicken breast, baked potato, and vegetables.

2 Make better bad choices. This is especially valuable when traveling. For example, baked chips vs. fried, pretzels vs. peanuts, etc. Reduce juice, milk, alcohol, and regular soda. Did you know that one 12-ounce soda has eight teaspoons of sugar?

3 Brown-bag it. Have food such as a turkey sandwich, fruit, or protein bar with you at all times. The minute you allow yourself to go hungry, you will end up eating more of the same foods you’re trying to avoid.
