Next month, Montego Bay, Jamaica, will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Jamaica Triathlon, one of the world’s top vacation triathlons. Formerly known as the Rose Hall Triathlon & Wellness Festival, the three-day weekend event takes place Nov. 9-11 at the all-inclusive Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, and it has a little something for everyone — young children, teenagers and adults alike.
Friday and Saturday events include the Jamaica Schools Challenge Workshop, the popular Kids Triathlon and the Athletes Pasta Party. New to the lineup as of last year is the Corporate Jamaica 5K/10K Walk-Run Challenge that features sponsors and corporations from the Montego Bay area. Concluding the weekend’s festivities on Sunday is the triathlon itself, which consists of a variety of challenges: the Olympic Distance (1.5K swim, 40K bike ride and a 10K run), the Sprint Distance (750-meter swim, 20K bike ride and a 5K run) and the Duathlon Sprint (a combination of a 5K bike ride and a 20K run).
