The Graf von Faber-Castell Pen of the Year 2012
Courtesy Faber-Castell

If Faber-Castell has any say, the art of writing will make a comeback, particularly this year. The historic company’s Graf von Faber-Castell Pen of the Year 2012 features a barrel made of wetland oak delicately layered with 24-karat gold leaf to enhance the grain before being embedded in resin. The distinctive fountain pen is numbered (only 1,500were made) and comes in a black wooden case. It also gives new meaning to the phrase “the art of the written word.”
