Summer is the season for getting out of town, but reading these books about road trips may be better than the real thing.
WITH APRIL SHOWERS GONE, May flowers in bloom, and warm temperatures finally at hand, it’s very tempting to fill up the tank, roll down the windows, and head for the horizon. Here’s the thing about road trips, though: They always seem like a good idea, but they can quickly dissolve into a royal pain in the neck (often quite literally). Don’t get us wrong -- we know that sometimes, journeys made on the road yield the most fantastic stories, which the following road-trip-themed literary works prove. It’s just that we’d rather let someone else do the driving and then experience the adventure vicariously.
