CARDIO IN COSTUME: Launched five years ago, the Miami Beach Halloween Half Marathon is perhaps the only certified running event in the country dedicated to flaunting Halloween spirit for 13.1 miles. The costumed run on Oct. 26 will include spooky finisher medals and awards for the fastest costumed superhero, villain and other categories. The race’s official philosophy: “We cannot guarantee that you will achieve your personal best time, but we will ensure that you have a good time.” www.halloweenhalfmarathon.com
PARANORMAL PROPERTY: Tucked on the banks of Biscayne Bay, the Deering Estate at Cutler attracts guests for art exhibits, yoga classes, guided hiking tours — and ghost overnights. Identified as one of South Florida’s most haunted estates, the 1920s mansion and its 444-acre grounds host “Spookovers” year-round with the League of Paranormal Investigators on select nights. www.deeringestate.org
HAPPY ORCA-WEEN: The 19th annual Monster Splash Daytime Splash & Nighttime Bash at the Miami Seaquarium (Oct. 25-27 and Oct. 31) welcomes families for another year of Halloween-themed spectacles — including the all-popular “Superheroes Killer Whale Show” and “Flipper’s Thrills and Chills.” That’s right, cetaceans are smart enough to celebrate Halloween with the rest of us. www.miamiseaquarium.com
