What better way to celebrate Memorial Day than by gathering a group of friends and camping out under the stars of the Western sky while taking in the sounds of Bon Iver, Jack White, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, the Shins, Metric, the Walkmen, Alabama Shakes, Tune-Yards and about 100 other renowned musical acts? Oh, and by “taking in the sounds,” we don’t mean turning on your stereo or plugging in your iPod. We mean the four-day Sasquatch! Music Festival, May 25–28 at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, Wash., about two and a half hours outside of Seattle. Named the Festival of the Year by Consequence of Sound, this is truly one of the most satisfying festivals you’ll attend all summer — it’s more chill than Bonnaroo, it’s less of a scene than Coachella, it’s in a beautifully majestic setting (in the cliffs above the Columbia River Gorge), and the crowds are manageable. So, what are you waiting for?
