Lungarno Collection — the Florence, Italy–based luxury hospitality group owned by the Salvatore Ferragamo family — has created a program around this. Guests who check into suites at the Hotel Lungarno, Gallery Hotel Art, Continentale and Lungarno Suites in Florence will have the opportunity to buy pieces from Ferragamo Creations, a limited-edition line from the age-old fashion house that’s bringing back iconic shoes, bags, accessories and home goods from the brand’s archives. Better yet, suite guests can also buy said items at a 10 percent discount while getting a private tour of the Ferragamo boutique on the Via Tornabuoni in Florence, as well as a guided tour of the neighboring Ferragamo Museum. Products from the line include the Bonito, the first bag made under the Ferragamo name, which was used by Salvatore himself to carry his tools and prototypes; the Court Shoe (sparkly red pumps), worn by Marilyn Monroe in Some Like It Hot; and a very right-now metallic platform sandal called the Renaissance Shoe, which was originally designed in 1938. Talk about aging well.
What separates a fashion insider from a wannabe is very simple: access, being able to get what others can’t or sporting a coveted item weeks before it hits stores.
Prices begin at $525, www.lungarnocollection.com.
