Wherever beautiful birds go, bird lovers follow. From Nov. 19 to 24, both are sure to migrate toward the 26th annual FESTIVAL OF THE CRANES at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in Socorro, N.M., (just south of Albuquerque) — a winter retreat for ducks, geese and sandhill cranes. At dawn, as flocks rise in unison from pristine waterways, the skies fill with the whoosh-whoosh of beating wings. Throughout the day, bird-related workshops deepen your understanding of the stunning sights you’ve seen.
