Hilton is jumping on the hotel-spinoff bandwagon with its Home2 Suites concept, the first new brand for the company in 20 years. The first hotel in the collection debuted earlier this year in Fayetteville, N.C., and four more have followed in Salt Lake City and Layton, Utah; Baltimore; and San Antonio. Home2 Suites targets the budget-conscious yet hip traveler, and each hotel is designed to offer a home-away-from-home feel — the studio and one-bedroom suites feature easily movable furniture that guests can rearrange and a “working wall” that incorporates the kitchen and living areas. Each extended-stay property also offers an array of lifestyle amenities, including an expanded community space dubbed Oasis; Spin2Cycle, a fitness/laundry area; a market that stocks sundry items; and a business zone with complimentary Internet access. The rapidly expanding brand has its sights set on Mexico and Canada, in addition to numerous properties in the U.S., so don’t be surprised to see them popping up all over in the near future.
