In the romantic comedy DOWN WITH LOVE, Ewan McGregor and Renée Zellweger sport a look straight from the 1960s. Modeled after the style of the old Doris Day/Rock Hudson movies, the film offers up more than a few laughs — especially when watching the gag reel that’s just one of the many bonuses — and McGregor’s mod suits and Zellweger’s retro outfits provide plenty of costume options.
CHARLIE’S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE, out October 21, also provides some great ideas. Thin Man, anyone? Or how about Bosley or Shamus? And, of course, there are the Angels themselves. Beyond great costume ideas, the DVD is full of extras, such as a commentary by director McG and a Cameo-Graphy to test your knowledge of the various celebrity guest appearances in the film.
Other notables: THE LION KING, in a first-ever special edition, two-disc debut. Bonuses include a virtual safari led by Timon and Pumbaa, new animated footage, and more. (Parents: You’ll get lots of costume ideas for the kiddies.) The family holiday favorite, A CHRISTMAS STORY, celebrates its 20th anniversary with a special edition loaded with extras, including a humorous look at the making of the infamous leg lamp in “Get A Leg Up: A Shining Light of Freedom.”
