But before doing that, I need to tell you, again, that if you want to have a say in who wins our sixth annual Road Warrior search, you need to vote now. After November 14, we will not be accepting any more votes, no matter how many times you
e-mail us telling how the dog ate your computer.
So save yourself that trouble and head to www.americanway mag.com right now. Once there, take a look at the five entries we chose (from almost 7,000) and cast your vote for the one you think deserves to win.
Of course, we wouldn’t ask you to help us without offering you an incentive. And it’s a mighty nice incentive. Just for voicing your opinion, you’ll be entered in a drawing for 25,000 AAdvantage bonus miles. Pretty generous, don’t you think?
As was the case last year, the person who receives the most votes will be our grand-prize winner and will receive two million Hilton HHonors Bonus Points, one million American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles, and a two-year membership to the Admirals Club.
The second-place winner (yes, that’s the one who receives the second-highest number of votes) gets a bunch of nice gifts, including the Lifestyle 48 home entertainment system, a SoundDock digital music system, and a pair of QuietComfort 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones — all from Bose. He or she will also receive a four-night vacation for two at Hilton Los Cabos Beach and Golf Resort, courtesy of American Airlines Vacations, as well as a one-year Admirals Club membership.
The third-place winners will each get a four-night vacation for two at Hilton Cancun Golf and Spa Resort from American Airlines Vacations and enjoy a one-year Admirals Club membership. Oops! I almost forgot: On top of all that, each of the five winners will receive a Panasonic Toughbook W5 laptop computer.
A lot of you have already voted, and the competition is close. I definitely have my own favorites, having spent so much time with these people, er, entries, and it’s fun watching to see if others have been moved the same way I was. But I imagine that, like last year (and just like in eBay auctions), it will all come down to the wire.
If you weren’t one of the finalists, don’t be sad — at least not yet. We received many great haikus and photos, and we’ll be featuring those in our January 15, 2008, issue. So you may still see your name in lights — or at least in black and white.
Huh. That wasn’t so difficult. I’ve said all I needed to say, and nary a word needs to be cut. Think anyone would notice if I just repeated myself in every issue? Stay tuned …
Thanks for all the great entries this year, and thanks in advance for helping us choose the winners!
