Picture of Sheri Burns
Well, the good news and the bad news according to me, anyway. First of all, I hope many of you read the August 1 issue of the magazine. Why? Because finally your pleas were heard and there was a new picture. Of course, it wasn’t me, since I was taking a little break. But still, I do believe I technically gave you what you asked for. Nor was it a picture of Chris Wessling, the editor who more than ably handled my job while I was away and predicted that he might even usurp me. Alas (for him or for me, I’m not really sure which), I’m back in place, along with my favorite picture. And in case you were curious, that’s the good news.

The bad news? Two words: Road. Warrior. This is it. You have less than two weeks to enter. Have you even looked at the entry form? You best get cracking. Creativity doesn’t happen overnight, you know. And after August 31, there will be no more chances to enter — no matter how creative you are.

And just because I’m feeling generous, let me tell you one last time what you could potentially miss out on by not entering.

The grand-prize winner will receive two million Hilton HHonors Bonus Points, one million American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles, and a two-year membership to the Admirals Club.

The second-place winner will get some great products from Bose, including the Lifestyle 48 home entertainment system, a SoundDock digital music system, and a pair of QuietComfort 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones. He or she will also receive a four-night vacation for two at Hilton Los Cabos Beach and Golf Resort, courtesy of American Airlines Vacations, as well as a one-year Admirals Club membership.

Three third-place winners will take off for a four-night vacation for two at Hilton Cancun Golf and Spa Resort from American Airlines Vacations and enjoy a one-year Admirals Club membership. On top of that, each of the five winners will receive a Panasonic Toughbook W5 laptop computer.

In addition to all those great gifts, the five winners and their guests will be whisked away to Hilton Los Cabos Beach and Golf Resort for a big photo shoot. (So if you’re going to enter this year, make sure you have an up-to-date passport.)

To be eligible to win, here’s all you have to do: Upload the photos that you feel best show your life as a road warrior and write captions to go with them. We also want you to take a trip back to high-school English class and write a haiku for us. (But don’t worry. If you’ve blocked out all memories of high school, there’s an example of a haiku on our website.) Finally, there’s a quick multiple-guess test that is way less mentally taxing than the Mensa quiz we publish.

For more details, see the official entry page for the rules, regulations, and entry form.

Do it now, or your position as road warrior may be usurped by someone (in your opinion) less deserving. And to the thousands of you who have already entered, nice going!

PS: For all sorts of legal reasons, the contest is open only to U.S. residents. My apologies in advance to all our international road warriors.
