If you’ve ever wanted to live like the characters on the smash-hit British TV show Downton Abbey, then Oak Bay Beach Hotel is the place for you. Located just outside Victoria, British Columbia, the picturesque, 80-year-old manorlike hotel is offering an extravagant three-day, two-night ?getaway for two that includes perks like a chauffeured limo, a butler, access to the hotel’s therapeutic mineral pools and more. The new Manor package is based on the Emmy Award–?winning British TV series (the third season of which will premiere in January) about an aristocratic family living in London during the early 1900s. “A number of people from our team are Downton Abbey fans, so my wife and I watched a few episodes and liked it, and we took the idea from there,” explains Kevin Walker, co-owner (with wife, Shawna) of the hotel. This month also marks the grand reopening of the property, which has been closed for the last six years for an extensive rebuild. Historic beams, elegant light fixtures and bricks from the old hotel were incorporated into the new build, though, in order to preserve the rich history of the original estate.
