Convenience is key to an enjoyable journey, we all know that. When you’re traveling, regardless of where or why you’re going, I think it’s safe to say you are looking to get there in a way that’s as hassle-free as possible.

The minute you land, we know you’re anxious to get to your final destination, whether that be your home, office, a theme park with the kids or an important meeting. Well, as they say, ask and you shall receive. We fly more than 300,000 passengers a day, handling more than 250,000 checked bags across our network — we know baggage. So after listening to our customers who asked for new choices that can really make a difference in the travel experience with us, we introduced one of our newest services: Baggage Delivery Service.

Since our August launch, we have had great reception from you, our customers, on this new, one-of-a-kind service that lets you bypass baggage claim and get on with your day. As the first U.S. airline to team up with BAGS VIP Luggage Delivery, American gives you the choice to have your bags delivered to your office, home or hotel. Not only does Baggage Delivery Service conveniently deliver your bags to wherever you prefer, it also helps improve our own checked baggage protocol, reducing clutter in the overhead bins and increasing overall efficiency and performance. As I’ve said before, my organization is keenly interested in streamlining our operations to better serve our customers and checked baggage delivery is right up there as one of our top priorities.

You might be asking, “This sounds good and all, but what about weekends? What if I fly in on a red-eye?” Fortunately for you, Baggage Delivery Service is available seven days a week, including holidays, at more than 200 U.S. domestic airports. For you late-night travelers, if your flight arrives after 11 p.m., your bags will be delivered by noon the following day. And what’s even better … it’s simple and easy to use!

When you book your flight on AA.com or up to two hours prior to your departure by clicking View Itinerary, you will have the option to purchase Baggage Delivery Service. Cost depends on how many bags you have, starting at $29.95 for one bag, $39.95 for two bags and $49.95 for three to 10 bags. When you arrive at the airport, a special indicator will be printed on your bag tags to help BAGS VIP Luggage Delivery representatives correctly identify your luggage and deliver it to your final destination. For delivery locations within 40 miles from the arrival airport, your bags will arrive within one to four hours of your flight’s scheduled arrival time. If your final destination is outside of the 40-mile perimeter, don’t worry — you can actually have your bags delivered up to 100 miles from the arrival airport for a small surcharge. I don’t know about you, but I would love to breeze through the airport, be on my way and see my bags at my hotel when I arrive.
