Flip Flop Fly Ball: An Infographic Baseball Adventure (Bloomsbury USA, $25) is a stat nerd’s dream. Craig Robinson, a Brit who fell in love with America’s pastime on a business trip to the States, has taken some of baseball’s more minute facts — like the most common surnames in the major leagues or the height of Alex Rodriguez’s salary if it were doled out in pennies — and turned them into easy-to-understand images, like the one seen at right , which represents the distance traveled by all MLB base runners during the 2006 season. The result is 160 fascinating pages dedicated to the odder side of baseball.
