the angels. don't forget richard meier's getty center. for a

seattle. here, you'll find gehry's experience music project
museum and rem koolhaas' seattle public library, which "is probably
even more thrilling as a vision of the future than as a public
building, and a library that is electronic- media-based," says
professor mark linder.
las vegas. the rem koolhaas-designed hermitage-guggenheim
museum lies inside the venetian resort-hotel-casino. "las vegas is
moving away from the disneyesque entertainment kind of thing to
these pockets of high culture," says linder. "in a way,
entertainment architecture is as fantastic as bilbao; it's not high
culture, but it's sponsoring the possibility of it."
cincinnati. see iranian-born zaha hadid's design of the
city's contemporary arts center, which the new york times called
one of the best buildings in the century. while there, check out

annandale-on-hudson. gehry's design of bard college's performing

canary islands. tenerife, the largest of spain's autonomous
canary islands, hopes santiago calatrava's opera house will attract
more than the towel-and-swimsuit set. with a winglike canopy, the
building has been described as a turtle, a crescent moon, a wave,
an eyelid, a helmet, and a palm frond.
