Thanks to the ubiquitous Twilight series, everyone knows Utah’s Stephenie Meyer. But she’s far from the only author the Beehive State can lay claim to. Here are a few other literary Utahans to keep an eye on.

Alan Bellows
His lone title — 2009’s Alien Hand Syndrome — is an oddball collection of 90 stories about “too-weird-not-to-be-true” phenomena. Great fun.

Melanie Rae Thon
Thon’s forthcoming In This Light: New and Selected Stories promises to be a breakout book for the University of Utah professor and talented scribe.

Dan Wells
Dark humor is Wells’ weapon in last year’s Mr. Monster, featuring a fictitious teenage sociopath. His latest, I Don’t Want to Kill You, hits stores later this month.

Carol Lynch Williams
Teenage readers will identify with the protagonist from Miles from Ordinary: A Novel, the new book from this prolific young-adult author.

Anne Zimmerman
The recently released An Extravagant Hunger: The Passionate Years of M.F.K. Fisher is a delicious biography of the famed food writer.
