Designer collaborations have been having a major moment in the fashion world for the past few years, and this fall, they’re as chic as leather and winter white. One that really has us excited is the partnership between women’s classic workwear retailer Ann Taylor and footwear designer Vince Camuto on a shoe collection that doubles the assortment previously available at Ann Taylor. The collaboration, which first hit shelves in August, immediately boosted Ann Taylor’s head-to-toe options and made the store more of a one-stop shop for the sophisticated and busy shopper — its exact demographic. While some might not immediately recognize Camuto’s name, the designer has been a fixture in fashion for years. He co-founded the popular shoe brand Nine West in the late 1970s, launched his own footwear line in 2005 and, in 2006, partnered with Tory Burch to help launch her brand’s now sought-after shoe collection. By joining forces with such a sound name, Ann Taylor is making it clear it has a foothold in the shoe market, which is good news for shoe lovers: Just as the Ann Taylor brand is synonymous with chic-but-approachable takes on current trends, the shoe collection has something for everyone and is composed of luxe fabrics, fine detailing and in-demand styles. The holiday collection, in stores now, boasts lace pumps, velvet smoking shoes (this season’s must-have flats), chic wedge booties and knee-high riding boots — everything the modern career woman could need to carry her from day to night and from work to weekend.
